A. Learning Objects Repositories Design and Use
This tutorial will go thru the process of implementing, using and evaluating learning objects using a large learning object repository. The PALOMA software will be used to describe resources in the standard LOM (Learning Object Metadata) format. Four search methods will be demonstrated including federated search through the GLOBE repositories. A quality assurance process for learning object repositories will be presented.

B: Beyond the "E": An introduction to Multimedia Technologies & Applications on the web
More and more people are coming into contact with internet-based learning systems and websites that are rich in multimedia (graphics, animation, sound and video). This tutorial is for beginners as well as intermediate. Its objective is to present the state-of-the-art in multimedia enabling technologies, services and applications, over a variety of networks and protocol.

C: Learning Design with IDLD Portal
The goal of this workshop is to introduce the participants to the main notions and concepts of the IMS Learning Design specification. Part 1presents the development of the MOT+LD editor and introduces the basic IMS LD notions and concepts. Part 2 is an interactive demonstration of the IDLD portal that groups a large set of learning designs in the first Canadian LD Repository, design tools and methodological instruments. Participants will go through each step of a testbed evaluation procedure. Part 3 presents the main results of an IDLD TELOS testbed that has been conducted in September 2006.
Participants will be able to experiment using their own laptop through wireless connection.

D: Introduction to Ontology Driven Architectures
In this workshop, we introduce the audience to the software engineering techniques of Ontology Driven Architectures. We will discuss the various benefits and difficulties of this approach. The workshop will be divided into three parts:
- Introduction to ontologies, OWL and related software tools (like inference engines);
- Ontology driven architectures and model driven architectures;
- Ontological programming paradigms (including RuleML, SWRL). The workshop will cover some background theory and practical examples. We do not assume prior knowledge about ontologies.
